I am so excited to be able to share my birds!!! This is my first time participating, I am happy to find this challenge because I have so many pictures of birds, I love to take pictures and observed bird… I call them, my birds.
Today I will be sharing Wood Stork. I took these pictures at Sebastian Inlet, Florida on June 6 2020.
We went to visit Lima Peru back in March 2019 just for 5 days. When I checked that we could do this one day trip to the Ballesta Island I didn’t think twice. We took a speed boat in the town of Paracas.
One of the first sights is the Candelabro
The Ballestas Islands are mostly made of rocks formations and they are a sanctuary for marine bird and mammals.
Humboldt Penguin
Inca terns, Peruvian Bobby, Blue-footed Bobby and more….
Sea Wolves or South American Sea Lions
It is impressive how the pop of all these birds ” guano” is such a valuable resource in this area. Guano it is a valuable fertilizare resource, use locally and exported all over the world.
When you are coming back you have a display of colorful boats greeting you.
After the amazing boat tour at the Ballesta Island, you can get a plate of delicious Ceviche and then head to Huacachina Village for an exhilarating dune buggy and sand boarding experience.
Check out my next post for the dune buggy and sand boarding experience.
I think I could say that Black Skimmer are one of my favorite birds. I love how elegant they look when they are flying, and how they don’t look elegant at all when they are just standing by. I am fascinated by their black eye that you can’t see unless you are close enough. Their robust beak and skinny legs match in color but not in appearance, it’s cute and unbalanced. In top of all they are hard to photograph, I think that is what keeps me wanting to know more about them, and try again and again to take their picture.
The only way for you to see my eyes is if you get closer.
When I fly I look very elegant. My wings have a perfect way to look, like a suit. I am a bird without eyes. At least that is what you can think if you see me flying by you.
My name is Black Skimmer. Can you tell why?
I skim the water to find good yummy stuff to eat.
My name is Black Skimmer
This photo is not sharp at all. But I love it, because you can see clearly what Black Skimmer does for living.
After I eat, and I get tired I like to hang out with my partner in crime.
