A Trip to Ballestas Islands in Peru

We went to visit Lima Peru back in March 2019 just for 5 days. When I checked that we could do this one day trip to the Ballesta Island I didn’t think twice. We took a speed boat in the town of Paracas.

One of the first sights is the Candelabro

The Ballestas Islands are mostly made of rocks formations and they are a sanctuary for marine bird and mammals.

Humboldt Penguin

Inca terns, Peruvian Bobby, Blue-footed Bobby and more….

Sea Wolves or South American Sea Lions

It is impressive how the pop of all these birds ” guano” is such a valuable resource in this area. Guano it is a valuable fertilizare resource, use locally and exported all over the world.

After the amazing boat tour at the Ballesta Island, you can get a plate of delicious Ceviche and then head to Huacachina Village for an exhilarating dune buggy and sand boarding experience.

Check out my next post for the dune buggy and sand boarding experience.

Designed For My Eyes And For My Soul

I don’t know about you but when I see something beautiful it have a chain reaction within me. It energize my soul, breathing is easier and happier. I don’t know about you but nature sometimes takes my breath away.

We arrived to Anchorage, Alaska on Tuesday night and early Wednesday our adventure officially started. At 6am we were at the train station, 6:15 started boarding. At 6:45 on the dot we were heading to Seward.
I was looking forward to see and enjoy the scenery on our 4 hour trip.

Like children my husband and me walked through the train, opening and closing doors to go to be next wagon. We stayed outside few times on the opening areas between wagons, to take pictures. The wind was cold to our skin, but the excitement was stronger than the cold wind.

Unfortunately we didn’t see any wildlife, just the back of few beluga whales but no moose, bears or Eagles. We saw plenty of glaciers, mountains, lakes and more. The mix beauty of white, green and brown highlighted most of our views. I can’t explain how the mix of these colors with some perfection masterpiece of creation makes such a beautiful sight like a perfect design for my eyes and my soul. The only thing I can tell you is that is just beautiful.

Seaplanes are very common here in Alaska. People have their houses in front of a lake with their seaplane “park” in front of their house. Seaplanes are a good way of transportation in Alaska, not every place can be reached by car. People here learn how to fly from 14 years of age, before they know how to drive a car.

We had breakfast on the train too, that is a cool thing I had never done before. You can go to a dinning area, eat while watching the mountains and trees running away from you. After four hours we got to Seward, and the scenery there was even more beautiful, confirming that these kind of beautiful sights are designed for my eyes as well as for my soul. I have a feeling that might be designed for you too.
If someday you want to experience Alaska railroad and a trip like this, I can help you design it for you. Stay tune for my next blog about Seward.

Until then, xamlinnette 🙂

Designed for you

It was the first time, and it wouldn’t be the last.

It was the fist time in my life that I traveled, I was 18 years old and it wouldn’t be the last. Twenty five years later I can testify that, that trip to Disney World wasn’t my last.

Back then, I lived in Puerto Rico and I had never traveled before. I used to dream about Disney World, it was like a fantasy to me. The whole concept of traveling to the US it was like a dream. I never imagine back then that eight years later I was going to be living permanently in Orlando Florida. If I never imagine that, less I imagine that I was going to be working everyday on Disney property. Back then was a dream, this day is my every day life thing.
It was my first time traveling and it was my first time at Disney World, and definitely hasn’t been the last. That was just the beginning of Travelmystories I just didn’t know it back then.

In some of the pictures we were at Universal Studios. Actually on that vacation we stayed at Central Florida for 3 weeks and we visited all the parks including Bush Garden in Tampa. My family always took us on vacation, but in Puerto Rico. We visited many places and stayed in different towns during our vacation. But this special one, was our first family vacation in the US. Thank God for cameras, and albums we have now great memories to re-live.
Where did you go on your first travel?
Until then,

Behind the Doors Of My Travels

The curiosity of what is behind every culture, every country, every person, lies behind the doors of their houses, business, churches and more.

Alora, Spain
At the time we were passing by this door⬆️ in Alora it was 2pm. All business were closed. Culture at its major splendor! They take a break in the middle of the day. Everybody rest and open their doors for business again, later in the afternoon.
Casablanca, Morroco
The things that happens inside a room, the stories that will develop will start once you get in and close the door. Families in the world are different but the same at the same time.

Behind that ⬆️ door is the library of the Parliament of Canada, the only survivor part of the 1916 fire. That door witness the tragic burn of the rest of the building. History and memories hold between a door.

A church in Barcelona

Lisbon, Portugal

I wonder how many rich people had walk through that door⬆️ in France? How how many enter to apply for a house loan? Or how many went through that door to withdraw the last penny on its account? I just wonder?

Quebec

This corner apartment is for rent in Old San Juan Puerto Rico. How many families have lived here? Can you imagine the stories that door hold inside?

When you travel you will encounter a different story in every door that you go through. That’s fascinating! So let’s travel more and start a new travel story when you go through the airport doors!

Until then,

How TravelmyStories was born?

Before I ever dream about travelmyStories, long time ago everything started with a divorce, no cable in my new place, Rick Steve, and a notebook where I started to write how I felt to let all my frustrations out.

I learned that from every bad experience something good come out of it. My circumstances back then, sure didn’t look any good. After my divorce my budget was limited. I didn’t have cable TV on my little apartment. The weekends that my kids were with their dad, I watched public TV. There was Rick Steve for me all weekend…literally. I didn’t have anything else to see, PBS was the only thing I had, and for some reason during the weekends the Rick Steve programs were on all they long. At the begin it was a whatever moment for me, but later I started dreaming and traveling with Rick Steve every weekend.
At the same time I learned to love writing, when writing was my only way to express my troubles of that time. Without noticing my writings looked like poems or romantic thoughts. They had some kind of rhythm. I share them with some people. I continue writing songs, stories for church dramas and more. One day a friend of mine ask me why I didn’t write a blog. The rest is history. I took a while to be what it is now, but that is how everything started, that is the origin of my blog.
Now, how I combine that with the travel side of Travelmystories?
Traveling stayed in my mind like a dream. I thought it was going to be impossible for me to travel, as a single mom and two kids. I didn’t see it happening. Still I tried to explore a little close to home (Florida). Vacation has always be a big deal to me even if we “travel” around the corner. Then I met my husband, a pilot that loved traveling but didn’t do it much because didn’t want to do it alone.
Together we filled each others empty spaces and we travel.

TravelmyStories still a dream, because I can’t yet travel as much as I want, still a dream because I still not inspiring to travel all the people I want. Still a dream because I can’t quit my job yet. But that is the reason I became a travel agent, and that is how travelmystories is my little travel agency as well. That is the origin of travelmystories.net.

Until then,
