Back in April we also visited the city of Yabucoa which is on the southeast part of the island. The colorful plazas are common in each town we visited in Puerto Rico and Yabucoa is a good example of that.

There were cheerful colors everywhere, but the small town was deserted.

Besides de main plaza we also visited an old, abandoned sugar factory, the Central Azucarera Roig. This factory was first called Yabucoa Sugar Co. established in 1895 by Ramon Aponte Ortiz de la Renta. Then it was bought by Antonio Roing in 1927. I didn’t get into any structure but I found this FB page (Para Que No Me Cuenten) that has a post with a few pictures of the inside and I found them very interesting. I get mesmerized by the number of businesses, structures, and even houses that once were important for the island or to individual families and now are abandoned and taken by nature.

I did ICM for one of the images to have a feel of the passing of time. It looks like a wooshing wind called time took everything away.

Changing scenery but continuing with old ruins and history, we visited the Hacienda Lucia in Yabucoa. This place is not open at all times like the one mentioned above. Hacienda Lucia has limited open times for the weekends only. Unfortunately, we went on a weekday so I could only take pictures from the distance.

These ruins are from a small sugar mill dating back to 1883. The machinery that worked with vapor.

Lastly, we ended our day at the beach to capture some peaceful scenery.

I love to create something new giving a little twist using intentional camera movement. The movement of the waves and the movement of the camera at the same time is like painting on a canvas.

I also like to capture and freeze with movement random moments for my “Our Time on Earth, Living the Dash; Freezing Seconds that Never Stopped” project. In the next picture, we see a person out fishing in the distance ( you have to zoom in to see it better).

If you do not know what my project is about here is a little bit of explanation:
“Our Time of Earth, Living the Dash; Freezing Seconds that Never Stopped” displays the representation of the movement of time in a moment in time of us humans. The project has a variety of random moments or circumstances that most people can identify with. Living the dash is that line between the day we are born and the day we die. I want to focus on the good things of our limited time on earth. The project images are colorful and uplifting, within the blur we can still see focus details that represent focusing on the good things in life regardless of the circumstances or our fleeting time on earth.
Well, that is for now, remember that you can purchase any of my images through my Store Page. Not all my images make it to my portfolio either but if you are interested in any picture just send me a message. Thank you for your support.
