Enchanted by Castles Part 2

This is when we found life in the middle of the green mountains. 🙂

We left the tourist office happy to know that the bus stop was just in front of the tourist office. We found out that you can take the circular 434 bus route, the tickets are €5 and can be purchased from the bus driver. We joined the small crowd at the bus stop and waited, the bus supposed to pass every 15 minutes and not long, we got in. The route is steep, for those that love hiking and a more challenging experience, you could walk one hour up the hill but I tell you, you will have to do more walking once you get to the castles.  These experience of visiting this two Palaces, Moors and Pena are not for people who have difficulties walking or are not used to go up and downs on stairs and steep narrow path. It’s a really exhausting adventure and demands a lot of physical workout. Taking the bus you get there in less than 15 minutes. So, we started our adventure. I could keep describing to you the beauty around us, the wao! view, the nice cool wind that refresh us from the heat of the walks, but its better if you see it for yourself. Here I share with you our little adventure, at the end of the pics are some videos… Check them out!

From here you can see the train station where earlier we were standing with no clue where to go.

Between the fog you can see the Pena Palace on the other hill.

Once we finished, we hopped again to bus 434, once you buy the 5 euro bus ticket it will work for the whole round trip. Few minutes later we were at the Pena Palace. A complete different experience but still incredible amazing! Here we had to take break to eat, they have a restaurant buffet, for 10 euros you pick what you want to eat.

In part 3 of Enchanted by Castles, I will share pics and videos of the Pena Palace and will tell you about our second day in Sintra and how much easier was for us to get around once you have the right information. Until then…

  1. Thank you Restlessjo for your comments an your likes!! You walk up there? You didn’t take the the 434? We almost did that but its dangerous, not because of the walk but because the street doesn’t have a walkway and the buses pass by so fast with no mercy!! Sometimes I was afraid that we were going to hit somebody.

  2. Great shots! I did most of it the hard way, by walking up there, but then I never did have much sense. 🙂 Thanks for following, by the way.
